*Exchanges begin and end at Toronto Pearson Airport. It is the family’s responsibility to make arrangements for their child’s arrival at Pearson.

*Participants travel under group travel arrangements to a predetermined destination airport. European families understand that the same conditions of participation apply and must attend the predetermined airport to collect their host child.

Host/Go Student Fees:

France=$4,699

Spain/Germany= $4,799

Switzerland/Italy=  $4,899

Included in Fee:

  • International group travel from Toronto Pearson Airport to a predetermined European airport 

  • Chaperones are included on most flights 

  • If Required UM status is offered*

  • One checked luggage 

  • Youth policy travel insurance* including trip cancellation and interruption, emergency medical /hospital 

  • Extra/ Overweight baggage will result in additional fees

  • Domestic travel to and from Toronto Pearson Airport 

  • Extra luggage fees 

  • Personal spending money for shopping, etc. 

  • International data plans 

  • Costs incurred due to early return 

  • Vaccination travel requirements 

  • Any expenses regarding additional supporting documents for your application 

  • Any required travel documentation 

  • Hosting expenses 

Payment

A registration fee of $699 is built into our pricing and is non-refundable 

  • The remaining fees are due in one or two instalments (program dependent)

  • Summer and Go First Programs: Balance due simultaneously with match acceptance 

  • Host First Program: Balance broken in to two instalments, July 1st and September 15th 

  • Program fee timelines will vary based on program selection 

  • E-transfers are the ONLY form of accepted payment

How to Apply

Application Requirements:

The following documents are required as part of the application process.  

  • ISE application (link below) 

  • School approval form (school year exchanges only) (PDF link) 

  • School transcript

  • Health form 

  • Passport  

  • Vulnerable Sector Screening 

The following two items will allow us to start working on your file.

We can start working on your profile as soon as you complete your online application and submit the signed school approval form (for school-year exchanges).

We understand that some documentation may take longer (transcript, health form, passport, vulnerable sector screening), so don’t delay starting the process! Any outstanding documents must be provided within one month of the completed family interview.

Vulnerable Sector Screening

All adults 18+ who will be staying overnight in the home during the student’s visit—including part-time household members, partners, and older siblings—must complete a Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.

  • Completed clearance must be dated within one year of end of your hosting period.

  • Screening must be completed through your local police service or RCMP detachment.

  • ISE can provide a request letter if required by your local police service. WE WILL ONLY PROVIDE THE LETTER UPON REQUEST AFTER YOU HAVE SUBMITTED YOUR APPLICATION. LETTERS ARE NOT AUTOMATICALLY DISTRIBUTED.

  • Before requesting a letter, check your local police service’s requirements, as a letter may not be necessary.

Need a request letter? Email info@iseontario.com with the subject “Vulnerable Sector Request.” Include the full name, date of birth, and city of residence for each adult requiring a screening.

Program Requirements

Requirements For Students

  • Must have received and are up-to-date with immunizations. Each country has its mandatory requirements and does not allow for personal belief exemptions  

  • Must have received medical clearance to participate in the suitable exchange 

  • Recommended by their teachers, guidance counsellor, and school principal 

  • A schedule that supports participating in an exchange and being present for their partner (limited work, extra-curricular activities during the exchange cycle)

  • Able to attend arrival and departure airport days

  • Must have valid travel documentation 

Requirements For Families

  • Must have a home that is clean and orderly; has adequate space for the visiting partner; is free of substance abuse, physical abuse, or any other form of abuse 

  • Is warm, caring, and open; can host a student in a supervised, safe, and comfortable atmosphere; can provide for all meals and the cost of family activities for the student during the hosting period 

  • Be able and agree to speak only English at home during the hosting period 

  • Must commit to the reciprocal nature of the exchange program (hosting a partner for the time designated is required) 

  • Provide a safe, healthy environment. Regardless of laws, no smoking, vaping, or legal drug consumption is allowed in the home or vehicle in the presence of the HOST child. Any abuse or illegal use of drugs of alcohol will be reported to the authorities

  • Engage and respond to circumstances with the European child as a family member-including should issues arise. These are young adults learning about themselves. They may make mistakes, or may have grievances, and it is part of the journey. You must address any matters as you would your own children.

  • Assume responsibility for ensuring their child has the travel documentation required for travel

  • Submit a clear Criminal Background Check with Vulnerable Sector Check for each adult aged 18 and over living in the host home or any adult with ongoing overnight visits during your hosting period (dated within one year of the start of the hosting period) 

  • Maintain regular communication with the exchange partner’s family throughout the exchange period 

  • Agree to not host another exchange student while hosting their child’s partner at the same time

Requirements for Travel

  • All participants who are Canadian citizens require a Canadian passport that is valid at least 3 months past their return date in order to travel to Europe

  • Participants who are not Canadian citizens are responsible for determining what documentation they will require, e.g., visa in order to travel to Europe

  • It is the family's responsibility to ensure any supporting documentation is obtained for travel

  • Any other document required for travel included the ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorization System - ETIAS). This is a new requirement to travel to Europe scheduled to launch in 2026/2027 (https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en)

  • Any costs associated with travel documents are the responsibility of the family. ISE cannot be responsible for any flight refusal if documents are not secured or are incorrect for travel

  • If documentation e.g., passport, visa, resident card is lost, stolen, incorrect or insufficient, it is the family’s responsibility to cover any costs incurred including obtaining proper documents, new airline ticket, hotel stays, etc
